Anthony Benvenuto, 54, of Enfield in Hartford County, was arrested just after 7 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14, and charged with DUI, driving with a suspended Maine license, driving without insurance, and multiple traffic violations, according to Connecticut State Police.

A state trooper spotted Benvenuto's truck on Interstate 91 near Exit 33 in Hartford, after he passed the patrol cruiser while speeding and swerving between lanes, authorities said.

The trooper pulled him over and found he was driving with a suspended Maine license and without insurance, State Police said. During the stop, the officer noticed that Benvenuto appeared intoxicated.

Benvenuto denied taking any substances but failed a field sobriety test and was taken into custody again, authorities said.

While processing Benvenuto's information, the trooper learned that he had been arrested on Sunday, Nov. 10, and charged with DUI in the same area on I-91, police said.

A judge ordered him held on a $25,000 bond, State Police said.
